Genetic testing for Weight Loss

The Natural Path is proud to have become an affiliate with Genetic Direction and to offer genetic testing for parameters that have an impact on weight loss.  I feel like this information is so useful to me in helping my patients establish a maintenance diet after weight loss with the HCG Diet protocol.

Genes can Help to Determine if Your Body is Resistant to Losing Weight

There are many genes that have shown to have significant associations with a persons ability to lose weight and to keep the weight off.  What we have learned is that different people will have variable responses to weight loss protocols due to differences in genetic profiles.

  • Why do some people lose weight on certain diets and others do not?
  • Why do some people gain the weight back quickly while others kept it off even while eating a similar diet?
  • Why do some people lose weight when they run 20 miles per week and others do not?
  • Why can some people eat carbohydrates and not gain weight and others gain weight quickly when consuming carbohydrates?
  • Why can some people eat healthy fats and lose weight and others eat healthy fats and gain?
The answer in part to these questions is within our unique set of genes.

The Benefit of Genetic Testing for Weight Loss

I find the results of these tests to be a tremendous help to me in my practice. With the genetic testing, I can optimize and enhance the maintenance programs of diet and exercise for my patients by choosing foods and exercise methods that are more suitable for their unique genetic make up.
