Seawee on the HCG Diet

This is a question that my patients ask me from time to time ... "can I have seaweed on the HCG Diet?"  Of course, I generally allow maybe 1-2 sheets of the roasted, salted seaweed but prefer that my patients source seaweed that is in its more natural form.  There are many forms of seaweed out there today and it is important to check labels for cleanliness. We want to be sure it is sourced from a clean place and minimally processed.

Many forms of seaweed can be found prolifically growing all along the Oregon coastline.  Kelp is one of my favorites and it is just full of minerals.  Did you know it can  grow up to 12 inches daily?  Most seaweeds can be found in health food stores. It often comes dried and just needs a bath in water to perk up into it's natural state. It is a wonderful addition to soups!

SEAWEED IS Great for Health

Seaweeds have a multitude of health benefits.  They are known to be anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, anti-microbial & anti-fungal.
Seaweeds are also loaded with minerals and f B vitamins.  Kelp is the highest plant source of iodine which is wonderful for the thyroid gland.  Edible seaweeds also help to keep the body in an alkaline state.

Adding Seaweed to the HCG Diet

Sea vegetables are easily add to the HCG Diet protocol.  You could simply chew on it in its natural state. I love the salt and crunch of fucus!   Other times, I will soak the seaweed in warm water for a few hours and then add it to soups or salads.  Seaweed is a perfect addition to most soups or salads. I think it is an underused vegetable that can bring a lot to our palate and our bodies!
