Be Sure to Find Comfort in Food on P2 of the HCG Diet

 

Every now and then, we all need to have a little comfort food in our lives.  The Fall is such a time for that.  I encourage my HCG Diet patients to find ways to make "comfort food" within the limited list of P2 HCG Diet approved foods.  Spices are wonderful ways to make food taste warm and flavorful.  Experiment with chili powder, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, etc.  Phase II of the HCG Diet does not need to be void of comfort when it comes to food.  Two of my favorite comforting phase II dishes are Chili and Cauliflower Soup!  Yum!

 

Creating a Delicious HCG Diet Friendly Bowl of Chili

 

For this HCG Diet friendly recipe, you will need to gather these items:

  • 3.5 ounces grass fed ground beef - 93-95% fat free
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp. finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup pure water
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • pinch of garlic powder
  • pinch of onion powder
  • pinch of chili powder
  • pinch of oregano
  • pinch of cayenne if desired
  • salt and pepper to taste

To make this HCG Diet friendly soup, you will need to:

  • brown the ground beef in a small frying pan with onions and garlic.  Slowly stir in water and tomatoes.  Next, add in spices and let the mixture simmer while the water begins to reduce. If any burning happens please add a little more water.  The longer it cooks on low heat the more tender it will be.  When finished, serve in bowls and add some cilantro on top for garnish.  To add some fat for Phase 3 feel free to sprinkle on some organic cheddar cheese or a small serving of organic sour cream.  Enjoy!!!!

  • 100 grams lean ground beef (less than 7% fat)
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 Tbs. minced onion

  • 1/4 tsp. chili powder

Ingredients:

Directions:

Brown ground beef in a small frying pan, add onions and garlic. Stir in tomatoes and water. Add spices an simmer slowly until liquid is reduced. The longer it cooks, the more tender and flavorful. Add a little water as needed to prevent burning. Serve with chopped green onion or tomato garnish and salt and pepper to taste

Makes 1 serving (1 protein, 1 vegetable or fruit)

P3 modifications: Top with cheddar cheese and a dollop of sour cream.
